    GlossarySkin Elasticity (skin flexibility)

ability of skin to stretch and return to shape

Skin elasticity, also known as skin resilience or suppleness, refers to the skin's ability to stretch and then return to its original shape. This property is primarily due to the presence of elastin and collagen fibers in the dermis. As we age or due to factors like sun exposure and smoking, these fibers can degrade, leading to reduced elasticity and the formation of wrinkles and sagging skin.
