Laminin-332, also known as Laminin-5, is a protein crucial for the structural integrity and function of the skin. It is a key component of the basement membrane, which supports the attachment of the epidermis (outer skin layer) to the dermis (inner skin layer). Deficiencies or mutations in Laminin-332 can lead to skin disorders such as junctional epidermolysis bullosa, a condition characterized by fragile skin that blisters easily.
