    Interleukin-17 (IL-17) is a type of protein known as a cytokine that plays a crucial role in the body's immune response by promoting inflammation. It is produced by a subset of T cells called Th17 cells and is involved in defending against infections, but excessive IL-17 activity is also linked to autoimmune diseases, such as psoriasis and rheumatoid arthritis.
