    GlossaryHormonal Contraception (Hormonal BC)

methods using hormones to prevent pregnancy by regulating ovulation

Hormonal contraception, also known as hormonal birth control, refers to methods of preventing pregnancy by using hormones to regulate or stop ovulation. These methods include pills, patches, injections, vaginal rings, and implants, which typically contain synthetic forms of estrogen and/or progestin. By altering the hormonal balance, these contraceptives prevent the release of eggs from the ovaries, thicken cervical mucus to block sperm, and thin the uterine lining to prevent implantation.

Topical dutasteride is suggested as a low side-effect treatment for hair loss, with a proposed dose of 0.025% 1ml/day. It is considered better than finasteride due to its even inhibition of DHT isoforms and lower systemic absorption.
