January 2025 in “Therapeutic Advances in Medical Oncology” Many young women with breast cancer experience poor quality of life, especially in sexual health and hair loss, but future outlook improves over time.
The study involving 40 breast cancer patients found that an Ayurveda-based regimen, including Guduchi, Ashwagandha, and Curcumin, improved quality of life (QoL) when combined with conventional therapy. The supportive group (n=20) reported better global health status, physical and emotional functioning, and reduced symptoms like pain, insomnia, and hair loss distress compared to the control group (n=20). No serious adverse events were noted, though mild gastric discomfort occurred in two patients. The findings suggest that Ayurveda-based supportive care may enhance QoL in breast cancer patients, advocating for further research with larger trials.
