Glossary Green Fluorescent Protein

protein that emits green light under UV or blue light

Green Fluorescent Protein (GFP) is a protein originally found in the jellyfish Aequorea victoria that emits bright green light when exposed to ultraviolet or blue light. It is widely used in biological research as a marker to visualize and track cellular processes, gene expression, and protein localization in live cells and organisms.
