    Favus, also known as Tinea favosa, is a chronic fungal infection of the scalp, caused primarily by the fungus Trichophyton schoenleinii. It is characterized by the formation of yellow, cup-shaped crusts called scutula, which can lead to scarring and permanent hair loss if left untreated.
