TLDR An adult had a rare scalp infection in the forehead area, treated successfully with itraconazole.
An immunocompetent adult presented with a psoriasiform plaque over the glabella, an area culturally referred to as the 'bindi' area, without involvement of the scalp or other hair-bearing regions. The patient declined a skin biopsy, so a potassium hydroxide stain was used, confirming a diagnosis of favus. Treatment with systemic itraconazole led to complete clinical and mycological resolution with no relapse. This case highlights the diagnostic challenges of atypical presentations of favus in adults and the continued relevance of simple stains in resource-limited settings.
