Cutaneous Squamous Cell Carcinoma (cSCC) is a type of skin cancer that originates in the squamous cells, which are flat cells located in the outer layer of the skin (epidermis). It often appears as a red, scaly patch, open sore, or wart-like growth that may crust or bleed, and it can develop on sun-exposed areas of the body. If left untreated, cSCC can grow larger and potentially spread to other parts of the body, making early detection and treatment crucial.
