laboratory-created substitute mimicking natural human skin functions

Artificial skin, also known as synthetic skin or bioengineered skin, is a laboratory-created substitute designed to mimic the properties and functions of natural human skin. It is often used in medical treatments for burn victims, chronic wounds, and other skin injuries, providing a temporary or permanent covering that promotes healing and reduces the risk of infection. This engineered tissue can be composed of various materials, including collagen, silicone, and biodegradable polymers, and may incorporate living cells to enhance integration with the patient's own tissue.
