Amyloid deposits are abnormal accumulations of protein fragments that fold into a specific, rigid structure and clump together in tissues and organs. These deposits can disrupt normal function and are associated with various diseases, including Alzheimer's disease and certain types of alopecia, where they may interfere with hair follicle health.
