TLDR The zinc-coordinated nanogel therapy speeds up wound healing after pancreas surgery by balancing metabolism and fighting bacteria.
The study introduces a zinc-coordinated trienzyme nanogel (Zn@nGSC) designed to enhance wound healing after pancreatectomy by addressing complications such as hyperglycemia, oxidative stress, and infection. The Zn@nGSC system, which includes glucose oxidase, superoxide dismutase, and catalase, effectively modulates the wound microenvironment by reducing reactive oxygen species, lowering glucose levels, and enhancing oxygenation. Tested in a murine model, the nanogel demonstrated significant antibacterial properties, improved enzyme stability, and promoted tissue regeneration through enhanced collagen deposition, neovascularization, and immune modulation. The study highlights Zn@nGSC's potential as a multifunctional therapeutic platform for managing complex postoperative wounds, offering advantages over conventional therapies by providing sustained enzyme activity and stability under stress conditions.
