TLDR YAP1 helps fat cell formation by influencing the Hippo pathway.
The study investigates the role of YAP1 in adipogenic differentiation of goat adipose-derived mesenchymal stem cells (gADSCs) from Albas goats. It finds that overexpression of YAP1 significantly promotes the differentiation of ADSCs into adipocytes by up-regulating LATS2 and activating the negative feedback loop of the Hippo signaling pathway. This process involves YAP phosphorylation, reducing its nuclear levels and causing accumulation in the cytoplasm. The pro-adipogenic effect of YAP1 is dependent on LATS2 kinase activity. These findings highlight the importance of YAP1 in regulating stem cell fate, with implications for treating metabolic disorders and promoting hair follicle growth.
