TLDR Callicarpa nudiflora extract speeds up wound healing in scalded rats.
The study investigated the wound healing effects of Callicarpa nudiflora water extract (CNE) on second-degree scald wounds in Sprague-Dawley rats. Rats were divided into five groups, including a control and groups treated with Vaseline, Silver sulfadiazine, and Vaseline with 10% and 20% CNE. The treatments were applied daily for 21 days. Results showed that the 20% CNE group significantly accelerated wound healing and reduced wound areas compared to the control group, with notable improvements in epidermis and dermis structure by day 21. While CNE did not affect TNF-α and IL-10 expressions early on, it decreased TGF-β1 expression by day 21 and increased VEGF levels by day 7. Additionally, Samd3 expression was strongly inhibited in the 20% CNE group. These findings supported the traditional use of CNE for enhancing wound healing and skin repair in scald injuries.
