TLDR Vitamin E helps reduce PCOS symptoms and improves hormonal balance.
This study investigated the role of vitamin E in managing polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS) among 73 women in Baghdad. Results showed that vitamin E supplementation was associated with a significant reduction in androgenic symptoms such as hair loss (p=0.017), weight gain (p=0.04), and acne (p=0.016). Additionally, women taking vitamin E had lower levels of luteinizing hormone (LH, p<0.001), prolactin (p<0.001), and testosterone (p=0.015), indicating improved hormonal balance. HbA1c levels, a marker of long-term blood sugar control, were also significantly lower in the vitamin E group (p=0.005). However, no significant effects were observed on cholesterol, triglycerides, or immediate blood sugar levels.
