TLDR Vitamin D levels are not correlated with chronic hair loss in Telogen Effluvium patients.
The study "Evaluation of Vitamin D Levels in Chronic Telogen Effluvium Patients" conducted from January 2015 to March 2018 involved 155 patients with Telogen Effluvium (TE), a common type of hair loss, and 168 healthy individuals. The aim was to determine the effect of vitamin D on TE. The mean 25-hydroxy vitamin D (25OHD3) levels of the patient and control group were 13.42±6.28 ng/ml and 14.62±6.56 ng/ml, respectively, with no statistically significant difference (p=0.09). The study concluded that there was no correlation between TE and vitamin D levels, although the vitamin D levels were slightly lower in the patient group. The study suggested the need for more detailed prospective studies to address the issue of vitamin D deficiency in TE.
