TLDR The VEGF +405G allele may increase the risk of PCOS in South Indian women.
The study examined the relationship between the VEGF +405G/C polymorphism and the risk of polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) in 126 South Indian women with PCOS and 130 controls. It found that the +405G/G genotype and the +405G allele were significantly more common in the PCOS group, indicating that this polymorphism might be a genetic risk factor for PCOS in this population. The -460C/T SNP showed no significant association with PCOS. The study suggests the VEGF gene, particularly the +405G allele, could be involved in the development of PCOS, although it calls for larger studies to validate these results.
