TLDR Combining Virgin Coconut Oil and Nigella Sativa Oil speeds up healing in diabetic wounds.
This study investigated the effects of Virgin Coconut Oil (VCO) and Nigella Sativa Oil (NSO) on wound healing in diabetic rats, focusing on their combined use. The rats were divided into six groups, including a control and various combinations of VCO and NSO. Over 7 days, the combination of VCO and NSO was found to significantly enhance wound healing by increasing the thickness of the epidermis and dermis, reducing edema, and decreasing macrophage and leukocyte counts compared to the control and individual treatments. The synergistic effect of the VCO-NSO combination effectively attenuated inflammation and accelerated re-epithelialization, suggesting it could be a valuable treatment for diabetic wounds.
