TLDR TRPV4 helps sense pressure in mouse skin.
The study investigated the localization of the TRPV4 channel in mouse skin, revealing its expression in both small and large dorsal root ganglia neurons. TRPV4 was found at cutaneous mechanosensory terminals, such as Meissner, Merkel, penicillate, and intraepidermal terminals, but not at hair follicle palisades. This distribution suggested that TRPV4 played a role in transmitting pressure sensation through A- and C-fibers, contributing to cutaneous mechanosensation.
