It was traditionally used in Ayurvedic, ethno-botanical, and Unani medicine to treat conditions like dysentery, diarrhea, and hair loss. These therapeutic effects were attributed to its active phytochemicals, such as carbohydrates, proteins, tannins, steroids, alkaloids, dexamethasone, luteoline, glucolureolin, β-sitosterol, flavone, glycoside, and quercetin.
