TLDR Trichoscopy is a useful and affordable tool for diagnosing Alopecia areata.
The study focused on the use of trichoscopy as a diagnostic tool for Alopecia areata (AA) in 50 patients. Trichoscopy, which involves examining hair conditions with magnified light, was used to identify specific patterns associated with AA. The findings included white dots in 90% of patients, black dots in 80%, yellow dots in 50%, broken hairs in 40%, white hairs in 30%, short vellus hairs and exclamation marks in 20% each, circle hairs in 12%, and tapering hairs in 10%. The study concluded that trichoscopy effectively evaluates disease activity and severity in AA, offering a non-invasive and cost-effective diagnostic alternative.
