    GlossaryTapering Hairs

gradually thinning hair strands from root to tip

Tapering hairs refer to hair strands that gradually decrease in diameter from the root to the tip. This characteristic is often observed in conditions like alopecia areata, where the hair shaft becomes thinner as it grows, leading to a tapered appearance. This tapering can be a diagnostic clue for dermatologists when assessing hair loss patterns.
