TLDR Trichoscopy effectively detects early hair follicle changes before visible baldness in men under 40.
The study conducted at a tertiary care hospital in Bengaluru, India, involved 50 men under 40 years with Androgenetic Alopecia (AGA) and used trichoscopy to evaluate the association of trichoscopic features with AGA severity. The most common feature observed was anisotrichosis, present in all cases. Significant associations were found between AGA grading and the presence of white dots, focal atrichia, and honeycomb pigmentation. The study concludes that trichoscopy is an effective non-invasive tool for detecting early changes in hair follicles, which can precede visible baldness.
