TLDR A woman's rare benign eyelid tumor was correctly identified through detailed tissue analysis.
A 45-year-old woman presented with a pigmented lesion on her left eyelid that resembled a comedo but was diagnosed as trichoadenoma of Nikolowski, a rare benign hair follicle tumor, after histopathological examination revealed keratinous cysts surrounded by lymphocytic components in the dermis and hair shaft among the cystic keratin. This case underscores the importance of histopathological analysis for all excised eyelid lesions to ensure accurate diagnosis, as trichoadenoma can be easily confused with other skin conditions such as basal cell carcinoma and various benign lesions.
