TLDR Ixekizumab may be an effective first treatment for a rare skin condition causing hair loss.
Lichen planopilaris (LPP) is a type of scarring alopecia that leads to permanent hair loss and significant psychological impact due to its disfiguring nature. Traditional treatments have been largely ineffective. This report presents a case of a rare form of LPP, known as linear LPP (LLPP), which was successfully treated with ixekizumab, an anti-IL-17A/F antibody. After 12 weeks of treatment, the patient experienced complete hair regrowth on the scalp and forehead. This case suggests that ixekizumab could be a promising first-line therapy for LPP and its variants, offering sustained efficacy.
