TLDR Trazodone and Chlorpromazine might help treat sexual dysfunction from finasteride and SSRIs.
The study from the Institute of Chemistry of University of São Paulo proposes that the drugs Trazodone and Chlorpromazine could be used to treat sexual dysfunction caused by selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (post-SSRI) and finasteride, a treatment for androgenetic alopecia. This dysfunction, which can persist even after discontinuation of the drugs, is likely due to a disconnection of synaptic circuits linking libido to erection. Trazodone, a multifunctional drug, and Chlorpromazine, an antipsychotic, both have the potential to cause priapism (prolonged erection) due to their effects on various receptors. The researchers suggest that these drugs could restore the libido synaptic circuits, offering a potential treatment for post-finasteride syndrome and post-SSRI.
