TLDR Ethosomes improve skin absorption of finasteride more than other methods.
The study investigated the transdermal penetration characteristics of finasteride ethosomes. Finasteride ethosomes were compared to liposomes and other solutions using human skin in modified Franz diffusion cells. The results showed that the penetration rate of finasteride from ethosomes was significantly higher—6.4 times greater than from a saturated water solution, 2.2 times greater than from liposomes, and 1.6 times greater than from a hydroethanolic solution. Additionally, the amount of finasteride accumulated in the skin was greater with ethosomes. The study concluded that ethosomes enhanced the transdermal permeation and skin accumulation of finasteride.
