TLDR The procedure effectively created natural-looking hairlines and improved facial balance in female patients.
In 2013, a study involving 320 female patients was conducted to evaluate a method for total hairline correction. The procedure, which primarily aimed to change rectangular or M-shaped hairlines to a round shape, involved follicular unit (FU) transplantation. The average correction area was 30.1 cm². The results showed that the procedure was effective in achieving a balanced and attractive face by correcting various areas of the forehead. The study also found that 81% of patients had a widow's peak and 46% had a part-line on the left. The positioning of the part-line, the caliber of donor hair, and the forehead width were crucial for a natural appearance post-surgery. The authors concluded that natural hairlines can be recreated by making multiple peaks and clusters and irregular zigzag lines with single hairs on the frontal hairline and correcting the width of the forehead.
