Exploring the Use of Topical Tofacitinib in Pediatric Alopecia Totalis

TLDR Topical tofacitinib may help regrow hair in children with alopecia totalis.
This case report discusses a 7-year-old boy with alopecia totalis (AT), an autoimmune condition causing complete scalp hair loss. Initially, the patient showed limited response to treatment with Wysolone (prednisolone) and methotrexate. However, the introduction of topical tofacitinib combined with mometasone led to significant hair regrowth and improved hair density over 4 months. The findings suggest that topical Janus kinase inhibitors may be a promising treatment option for pediatric patients with AT.
