TLDR Using too much topical minoxidil can cause serious side effects like dizziness and low blood pressure.
This case report describes a 23-year-old man who experienced systemic cardiovascular effects, including dizziness, blurred vision, and hypotension, after using excessive amounts of topical minoxidil for androgenetic alopecia. The patient had been applying about half a teaspoon of 2% minoxidil twice daily due to a broken spray cap, leading to symptoms that resolved quickly after discontinuing the product. The report highlights the potential for systemic side effects from topical minoxidil, especially in cases of overdose, and underscores the need for further research to understand the mechanisms and frequency of these effects.
