TLDR The combination treatment showed some improvement but wasn't significantly better than using betamethasone valerate alone.
This study evaluated the efficacy of a combination therapy of topical minoxidil 5% and betamethasone valerate 0.1% versus betamethasone valerate 0.1% monotherapy in treating non-segmental vitiligo. Conducted at the Sulaimani dermatology teaching center, the trial involved 30 patients divided into two groups of 15 each. Group A received the combination therapy, while Group B received only betamethasone valerate. Both treatments were applied twice daily for three months. Results showed that the combination therapy achieved a higher mean percentage of depigmentation (21.9%) compared to monotherapy (16%). However, the difference was not statistically significant (P value = 0.8). The combination therapy was particularly more effective in hair-bearing areas of the head and neck.
