TLDR Topical liquid nitrogen reduces pain during PRP therapy but doesn't affect patient satisfaction.
The study compared the effects of topical liquid nitrogen and normal saline on pain during intradermal platelet-rich plasma (PRP) therapy for androgenic alopecia. Conducted at a tertiary care hospital in Gujranwala, Pakistan, from March to November 2021, it involved 64 patients (45 males and 19 females). Group A received PRP after liquid nitrogen application, while Group B received PRP after normal saline application. Pain scores were lower in Group A (median 4) compared to Group B (median 5). However, patient satisfaction scores were similar between the two groups. The study concluded that topical liquid nitrogen improved pain tolerance during PRP therapy, but patient satisfaction did not significantly differ between the groups.
