Developing Topical Gel Formulation of Erandakarkati (Carica Papaya Linn.) Latex for Managing Indralupta: A Preliminary Study

This preliminary study investigated the effectiveness of a topical gel made from Carica papaya latex for treating Indralupta, a condition characterized by patchy hair loss. Thirteen participants applied the gel daily for 28 days. Results showed that nine participants experienced no hair fall, and eleven saw hair regrowth in bald areas, although the size of bald patches did not significantly change. The gel was deemed safe, with no reports of itching. While the findings suggest potential benefits in reducing hair fall and promoting regrowth, the study's small sample size and short duration limit its conclusions, indicating a need for further research with larger groups and extended treatment periods.
