TLDR Adding the topical gel improved hair growth more than using minoxidil or finasteride alone.
The study evaluated the efficacy of a topical gel containing growth-factor mimicking oligopeptides, caffeine, taurine, and an iron-chelating complex (GFM-DA) as an add-on treatment for androgenetic alopecia (AGA) over 6 months. Fifty-eight subjects were randomized into four groups: GFM-DA with topical minoxidil (T-MNX), GFM-DA with oral finasteride (O-F), T-MNX alone, and O-F alone. Results showed that adding GFM-DA significantly improved the Global Photographic Assessment score (GPAS) compared to drug-only treatments, with the greatest effect observed in the GFM-DA+O-F group. At week 24, 62% of GFM-DA-treated subjects had a GPAS of +3 (very good improvement) compared to 27% in the drug-only group. The gel was well tolerated with no reported side effects.
