TLDR 5% ET-02 is a more effective and safe treatment for hair loss than current options.
The study presents the first human trial results for ET-02, a novel topical treatment for androgenetic alopecia (AGA). Conducted as a double-blind, placebo-controlled trial, it involved 24 subjects with moderate AGA, randomized into three groups receiving either 5% ET-02, 1.25% ET-02, or a placebo for 28 days. The 5% ET-02 group showed a significant 13.4% increase in non-vellus hair count compared to 2.3% for the placebo, and a 10.3% increase in hair width over placebo. These results suggest that 5% ET-02 is more effective than the existing 5% minoxidil treatment, which showed a 12.0% increase in hair growth over four months in separate trials. ET-02 was also found to be safe, with no adverse skin reactions or events reported. The findings indicate that 5% ET-02 could be a more effective and safer treatment option for AGA, warranting further study.
