TLDR Pomegranate leaf shows promise for health benefits, but more human trials are needed.
This review highlights the potential of pomegranate leaf (PGL) as a sustainable and bioactive compound with various health benefits, including anti-cancer, anti-diabetic, anti-inflammatory, neuroprotective, and anti-microbial properties demonstrated in vitro and in vivo. Despite promising results, variability in phytochemical composition due to extraction methods and environmental conditions presents challenges for standardization. The review emphasizes the need for comprehensive human clinical trials to confirm PGL's therapeutic benefits and safety, suggesting future research to fully exploit its potential in industrial applications.
