TLDR Amyand's hernia treatment is complex and depends on literature and surgeon's experience.
The case report described the surgical management of a 62-year-old male with a type 1 Amyand's hernia, where the appendix was found within an inguinal hernia sac but was not inflamed. The surgical team opted for a Lichtenstein tension-free mesh repair without removing the appendix. The patient recovered uneventfully and was discharged on the third postoperative day. The report emphasized the importance of the surgeon's judgment and experience in diagnosing and managing this rare condition, as it is often confirmed during surgery, and discussed the Lossanoff and Basson classification system for guiding surgical decisions.
