Serum Testosterone and Sex Hormone Binding Globulin Levels in Women with Androgenetic Alopecia

    TLDR Women with androgenetic alopecia have lower SHBG levels.
    The study assessed serum testosterone and sex hormone binding globulin (SHBG) levels in 8 women with androgenetic alopecia compared to 8 healthy controls. It found a statistically non-significant increase in serum testosterone levels in the alopecia group (p > 0.1). However, there was a statistically significant decrease in serum SHBG levels in the alopecia group compared to controls (p < 0.001).
