TLDR Shaving is the most effective temporary hair removal method for facial hirsutism.
The study focused on temporary hair removal methods for women with facial hirsutism, involving 271 questionnaire responses and 135 interviews from a caseload of 1,000 patients. Shaving was identified as the most helpful and frequently used method. Plucking was beneficial if tolerated, but it required caution to prevent folliculitis, pigmentation, and scarring. Waxing and depilatories were less commonly used, with less than 6% of patients using them on the face and about 20% on other body parts. The study emphasized the importance of avoiding irritants and using hydrocortisone 1% cream to manage irritation from hair removal techniques, and suggested cosmetic coverups as potentially helpful.
