TLDR Shaving is the most effective temporary hair removal method for facial hirsutism.
This study, conducted on a caseload of 1,000 patients with facial hirsutism, involved questionnaires from 271 individuals and interviews with 135. It found that shaving was the most helpful and frequently used temporary hair removal method. While plucking can be beneficial, it requires caution to prevent folliculitis, pigmentation, and scarring. Waxing and depilatories were less commonly used on the face (less than 6%) but more so on other body parts (about 20%). Managing irritation with hydrocortisone 1% cream and avoiding irritants were important, and cosmetic coverups could be useful.
