TLDR Some people in Saudi Arabia experienced hair loss after the COVID-19 vaccine, more often in women and those without prior hair loss.
In a 2021 cross-sectional study involving 991 participants in Saudi Arabia, it was found that 67.6% experienced hair fall after receiving COVID-19 vaccines. However, only 27.6% of these cases were directly linked to the vaccine, with the rest having preexisting conditions or previous hair fall experiences. The study also noted that post-vaccination hair fall was significantly higher in females and in those who had not previously experienced hair fall. The role of COVID-19 infection and stress related to the infection and vaccine were also suggested as potential causes of hair fall. The study emphasizes the need for healthcare professionals to consider the COVID-19 vaccine as a potential cause of hair loss.
