TLDR TB lymphadenitis can occur in people with weakened immune systems, like those with SLE.
The case report described a 21-year-old woman with systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) who developed tuberculosis lymphadenitis, a rare extrapulmonary form of TB, due to her compromised immune system from SLE and long-term immunosuppressive therapy. After 9 months of antituberculosis treatment, her lymph node size decreased, and she exhibited no further symptoms. The report emphasized the need to consider TB infection in SLE patients on high-dose steroid treatment, as their risk of TB is significantly higher than in the general population.
