TLDR Some synthesized peptides improved cell growth better than thymosin β4, VEGF, and minoxidil.
Researchers synthesized small molecule peptides based on thymosin β4's amino acid sequence and evaluated their biological activities. These peptides, less than ten amino acids in size, were tested for their effects on wound healing, angiogenesis, and hair growth. They promoted the proliferation of human dermal fibroblasts, human umbilical vein endothelial cells, and human dermal papilla cells more effectively than thymosin β4, vascular endothelial growth factor, and minoxidil, respectively. The results indicated that several peptides significantly enhanced cell proliferation, suggesting their potential for therapeutic applications.
