TLDR The Hotz-Celsus surgery successfully fixed inward-turning eyelids in cattle.
The document described two cases of cicatricial entropion in cattle, successfully treated using the Hotz-Celsus surgical technique. Both a 2-year-old Brahman bull and a 6-month-old Angus cross steer, suffering from trauma-induced cicatricial entropion, underwent surgery involving the removal of an elliptical portion of skin adjacent to the eyelid margin. Postoperative care included antibiotics and anti-inflammatory drugs, and both cattle recovered without complications or recurrence of entropion within a year. The study demonstrated that the Hotz-Celsus technique is an effective treatment for cicatricial entropion in cattle, emphasizing the importance of accurate diagnosis, skilled surgical intervention, and proper postoperative care.
