TLDR Using sulfur soap helped improve skin problems in a dog with demodecosis.
A 5-month-old male Peranakan Kintamani dog named Siba, weighing 7 kg, presented with skin lesions including erythema, crusts, alopecia, and hyperkeratosis, and was diagnosed with demodecosis caused by Demodex spp. mites. The dog was anemic but had a good appetite and normal defecation and urination. Treatment included ivermectin, antihistamine (diphenhydramine), vitamin B complex, and sulfur soap. After 14 days, there was an improvement in the skin lesions and a reduction in pruritus. The case report suggests that good husbandry management and maintaining the dog's immunity are important to prevent recurrent infections.
