TLDR New nanocarriers were developed for safer, targeted drug delivery and diagnostics, showing promise for future medical use.
The thesis focused on developing novel stimuli-responsive nanocarriers for targeted drug delivery and diagnostics. A key achievement was the creation of pH-degradable dPG-amine nanocarriers for genetic material delivery, which demonstrated reduced toxicity and effective transfection in HeLa cells compared to traditional methods. Additionally, dendritic polyglycerol-based nanogels were synthesized using a mild Thiol–Michael nanoprecipitation method, showing potential for both diagnostic and therapeutic applications, including pH sensing in hair follicles and efficient dermal drug delivery. The research highlighted the potential for these nanocarriers to be adapted for various therapeutic proteins and drugs, with the ability to overcome biological barriers and release cargo in a controlled manner.
