Bracketed Stability Evaluation of Topical Minoxidil and Finasteride in Foamil

    The study evaluated the stability of two concentrations of combined minoxidil and finasteride in Foamil®, a propylene glycol-free and alcohol-reduced foam vehicle, over 180 days. Using HPLC analysis, pH measurement, and organoleptic property observation, the chemical, physical, and microbial stability of the formulations (5% Minoxidil/0.1% Finasteride and 12.5% Minoxidil/0.25% Finasteride) was assessed at various timepoints. The results demonstrated that these compounded preparations remain stable for 180 days when stored at room temperature in tightly closed, light-resistant plastic containers, suggesting that Foamil® can effectively reduce scalp irritation while maintaining the efficacy of the active ingredients.
