Bracketed Stability Evaluation of Topical Minoxidil and Finasteride in Foamil

The study evaluated the stability of two concentrations of combined minoxidil and finasteride (5% Minoxidil/0.1% Finasteride and 12.5% Minoxidil/0.25% Finasteride) in a propylene glycol-free and alcohol-reduced foam vehicle called Foamil®. The preparations were tested for chemical, physical, and microbial stability over 180 days using HPLC analysis, pH measurement, and organoleptic property observation. The results indicated that these compounded preparations are stable for 180 days when stored at room temperature in tightly closed, light-resistant plastic containers. This formulation aims to reduce scalp irritation and increase patient compliance compared to traditional solutions.
