TLDR The hair tonics with galangal and Aloe vera extracts were stable and met standards.
The study formulated and tested the stability of hair tonics containing ethanol extract of galangal rhizome and Aloe vera leaf filtrate as potential treatments for dandruff and hair growth. The extracts were characterized for their soluble content, water content, and ash content. Three formulations with varying concentrations of the extracts were prepared and subjected to stability tests, including organoleptic properties, homogeneity, pH, and viscosity. The results showed that all formulations were stable, homogeneous, and met the Indonesian National Standard (SNI) requirements, with pH values ranging from 4.87 to 5.34 and viscosity values from 1,178 to 2,296 cPs before and after the cycling test.
