TLDR Managing multiple autoimmune diseases in one patient is very challenging.
This document presented a clinical case of a 44-year-old male with a family history of systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) and autoimmune thyroid disease (AITD). Initially diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis (RA) in 2002, the patient later developed Sjögren's Syndrome (SS) and SLE, showing symptoms like dry mouth, dry eyes, polyarthralgia, myalgia, hair loss, and Raynaud's phenomenon. Despite various treatments, including steroids, non-biologic DMARDs, anti-TNF biological treatment, and anti-CD20 therapy, the patient continued to experience persistent articular manifestations and side effects from ongoing treatment. The case highlighted the complexity and therapeutic challenges of managing multiple autoimmune syndromes (MAS) in a single patient.
