TLDR The conclusion is that surgical removal of solitary fibrofolliculoma is effective with no relapses, and diagnosis requires a biopsy due to varied symptoms.
This retrospective case series review over 18 years reported 11 cases of solitary fibrofolliculoma, a rare lesion, with a median patient age of 51 years. Most patients were female (64%), and 45% were asymptomatic. The lesions were diagnosed histologically, characterized by a hair follicle occasionally dilated and containing keratin material, surrounded by a fibrous tissue mantle. One case involved the eyelids, marking the third such report in literature. No relapses occurred post-excision. The study highlighted the importance of excisional biopsy and histological examination for accurate diagnosis due to the lesion's nonspecific symptoms and clinical appearance.
