TLDR Tin leaf extract in solid shampoo can effectively reduce oxidative stress on hair and scalp.
The study investigates the antioxidant properties of tin leaf (Ficus carica L.) extract and its formulation into a solid shampoo to combat free radicals that can cause hair loss and premature aging. The extract, obtained through maceration with 70% ethanol, demonstrated strong antioxidant activity with an IC50 value of 22.32 ± 0.43 ppm. Various solid shampoo formulas containing tin leaf extract were evaluated, with the best formula (formula 5) containing 15% tin leaf extract and 1% vitamin E, achieving a 53.43% inhibition rate. The study highlights the potential of tin leaf extract in hair care products to reduce oxidative stress on the scalp and hair.
